Many studies show that people who are happy are successful in many areas of their lives such as health, work performance, friendships and relationships. Some would say that people are happy because they are successful. However, there is a growing awareness that a positive state encourages positive energy, which can make a difference in your life. Having a positive attitude and energy may bring you desirable resources, success and ultimately happiness.
Each one of us has the ability to be happy. Living happy is good for your health and well being, as it helps to protect one from the stresses of life. If one does not feel happy, there are ways to increase your awareness of your happy state and live an increasingly happier and healthier life.
Deciding to be happy is the basic principle to becoming a happy person. Laughing every day, multiple times a day is not only good for your mental health, but also your physical health. Having an attitude of gratitude is a wonderful way to generate the positive energy needed in our society. The kind words of one person can change another person’s entire mood for the moment, a day or even a lifetime.
Thank those you encounter with sincerity and from your heart. They will feel that gratitude in their energy and return it to you. Managing your time and being able to sort through the hype and stressors in your day will help you to stay on task to achieve a state of happiness in your being.
Dr. M. Csikszentmihalyi states “happiness is not something that happens.” It is not something that is the result of good luck or random occurrences, nor is it a result of a monetary purchases or power. Rather she says “happiness is a condition that must be prepared for, cultivated, and defended privately by each person.”
