Chakras and Meditation

The concept of Chakras came to America from India; the system of beliefs teaches that the human body also has an energy body. This is a duplicate of the body, except it has circular points on it. These points resemble wheels or disks. The word Chakra actually means wheel. This system involves correcting problems or imbalances through meditation, along with diet and exercise.

The human body has seven different Chakras, located all over the body. The first Chakra is called Sahasrara, and is known as the Crown Chakra. It is related to inner wisdom and physical death. This is the Chakra that seeks a karmic balance. It is seen as the color violet. The next Chakra is the Brow Chakra, or Ajna. It is blue or white, and corresponds to intuition. The Throat Chakra, Vishudda, is about communication and expression. It is turquoise in color. The fourth Chakra is Anahata, or the Heart Chakra. It is pink and deals with affairs of the heart. The Manipura, the Solar Plexus Chakra, is yellow. This Chakra deals with digestion as well as personal power. Svadisthana, located in the genitals, and Muladhara, the Base Chakra, deal with sexuality.

Many people believe that when a person’s life is not in order, it is because one of his or her Chakras is either out of alignment or it is not getting the proper flow of energy. Diet, exercise and most importantly meditation can fix any problem within the Chakra system.
