Sanctuary at Home

Home, no matter where it is, is supposed to be your place to relax and feel secure. To create that ultimate security will depend, of course, on where that home is. A general sanctuary should include a relaxing atmosphere for everybody living there. It should feel safe and be your refuge from the frustrations and dangers of the outside world.

Some people find their sanctuary in recreational activities, and so they include areas within, or outside, their home to provide such. Many people generally prefer specific areas within their home to provide solitude and enjoyment, such as a living room or den. Many younger people prefer bedrooms as their sanctuary. They find that this is the place that is wholly their own. Relaxation is more of a physical nature than a mental or emotional one. Most inner sanctuaries within the home are a combination of two rooms in one.

The perfect sanctuary depends on the personal taste of the person creating it. A sanctuary should be tailored to provide that which gives peace. An outside patio, for example, may be perfect for the summer lovers. It can be made even better when enclosed for an all-season room. This way, those who find peace in watching and interacting with nature, can still do so at any time of the year.

For the mechanic, a perfect sanctuary may be the garage. One with talents and a little nervous tension might find themselves more at peace puttering around under the hood. The garage can be turned into a sanctuary by creating a peaceful and organized room where one can go to truly live in the moment, doing what they love. Whatever the place of peace may be, it's essential to have that place near or in your home. Working hard to make your home a sanctuary of inner peace is well worth the trouble.
